DESCRIPTION
The BMW 327 is a high-end car produced from 1937 to 1941 (by the Bayerische Motoren Werke), in the Coupé and Cabriolet body variants. The latter was the first version to be introduced in 1937, and often fairings were used on the rear wheel arches.
As for the car mechanics, the 327 was equipped with the same engine as the 326, that is to say the 6-cylinder in-line M328 with 1971 cm³ with overhead valve distribution and two carburettor. In the case of the 327, however, this engine was slightly revised and came to have 40 Kw of maximum power, against the 36 Kw of the 326.
The transmission remained unchanged, with the single-plate dry clutch and the 4-speed gearbox, and the chassis also remained unchanged, with hydraulic drum brakes on the all four wheels, independent wheels front and a rigid axle rear axle.
The 327 reaches a top speed of 125 km/h, compared to the 115 km/h of the 326.
The 327, however, received a moderate success, whose sales figures were penalized due to the outbreak of the Second World War. It was produced in less than 2.000 units, including the 327/28 versions.
For fans and collectors of BMW cars, the 327 is considered one of the most beautiful Cabriolets of its time, and still today it represents a safe investment.
